Extended Tip Set Screws Specifications:

The core design feature is that the square head can be directly tightened with a wrench (such as an open-end wrench, a flexible wrench), without the need for additional groove shapes (straight/cross) or inner hole designs (hexagonal/plum blossom); The end of the rod is usually machined with different shapes such as pointed, flat, and concave to meet different tightening requirements. Compared with ordinary set screws, the head of square head set screws is more prone to applying larger torque, making them suitable for scenarios that require high tightening force.


Set Screw with Cone Point:

The pointed end is a conical tip that can be embedded into the groove or pit of the connected part, with high positioning accuracy, suitable for situations that require precise anti rotation, such as fixing gears and shafts.


Set Screw with Flat Point:

Flat End type has a flat surface at the end, with a large contact area when tightened, making it less likely to damage the surface of the connected part. It is suitable for tightening smooth shaft surfaces or thin plate parts.


Set Screw with Cup Point:

The cup pointed end has a concave bowl shaped structure at the end, which can be slightly embedded into the surface of the connected part when tightened. Its anti loosening effect is better than that of the flat end type, and it is suitable for vibration conditions.


Set Screw with Dog&Half Dog Point:

The Dog Pointed End is a cylindrical protrusion at the end, which can be inserted into the positioning hole of the connected part to achieve precise positioning and anti rotation. It is commonly used for fixing parts in precision machinery.

Classified by thread type

Full thread type: The entire length of the rod is machined with threads, and the adjustable top tightening distance range is large, suitable for connectors of different thicknesses.

Half threaded type: Only one end of the shaft is threaded, and the other end is a smooth cylindrical surface. It has stronger stability when tightened and is suitable for fixing thick walled parts.

Application:

Construction machinery: anti loosening fixation of components of excavators, loaders and other equipment;

Machine tool equipment: positioning of fixtures and worktable accessories for lathes and milling machines;

Heavy equipment: anti rotation fastening of parts for large equipment such as rolling mills and crushers.

Raw material selection

The commonly used materials are mainly medium carbon steel and alloy steel (such as 45 # steel and 40Cr) to ensure sufficient tensile strength and torque bearing capacity; Stainless steel (304/316) will be selected for corrosion-resistant scenarios; High precision equipment will use special materials such as copper alloys and titanium alloys.


Cold heading forming is the core forming process, which uses a cold heading machine to extrude metal wire at room temperature to form the basic shape of the square head and rod in one go. Cold heading technology can preserve the continuity of metal fibers, avoid stress concentration caused by cutting processing, and improve the overall strength of screws.


Thread processing adopts the rolling process for thread processing. Compared with turning threads, rolling threads have higher tooth profile accuracy, lower surface roughness, and the metal fibers are not cut. The tensile and shear strength of threads is higher, making them suitable for mass production.


End forming processing is carried out according to design requirements, using turning, milling, or stamping processes to process the pointed, flat, concave, and other shapes of the end of the rod, ensuring that the dimensional accuracy of the end meets assembly requirements.


Square head set screws made of heat-treated carbon steel and alloy steel materials need to undergo heat treatment (quenching+tempering) to improve hardness and toughness. The common hardness level is HRC 30-45, which meets the high torque fastening requirements.


Surface Treatment

Carbon steel material: galvanized, color coated zinc, treated with blackening to prevent rust and corrosion;

Stainless steel material: Passivation treatment to enhance surface corrosion resistance;

Special scenarios: cadmium plating, phosphating treatment, suitable for harsh environments or anti sticking requirements.


Quality Inspection

The testing items include: head size (side length, thickness), thread accuracy, end shape size, hardness, and tensile strength; The testing tools include calipers, thread gauges, hardness testers, and tensile testing machines.
